Orientation Day Overview at ALG

Welcome to ALG Orientation

Orientation Day is a compulsory session for all new Australian Learning Group (ALG) students. It introduces your course, academic expectations, and key support services before classes begin. You will receive guidance on accessing the Student Portal, Learning Portal (Canvas), and essential study resources. International students will learn about their legal responsibilities under student visa conditions. Orientation also supports cultural adjustment and provides your first opportunity to meet classmates, staff, and begin building your student community. FAQs

Is Orientation Day Compulsory?

Yes. Orientation Day is compulsory for all new Australian Learning Group (ALG) students. It provides essential preparation for your studies, including an introduction to academic, wellbeing, and administrative support services. You will meet key staff, learn how to use learning systems such as the Student Portal and Learning Portal (Canvas), and understand academic expectations.

For international students, attendance at Orientation Day is a mandatory student visa requirement. Failure to attend may result in follow-up action and could affect your enrolment and visa compliance.

How Long Is the Orientation Session?

Orientation sessions generally run for five to six hours, depending on your campus and course. Each session includes presentations, introductions, and interactive activities to help you prepare for study. Please check your Orientation Invite Email for the confirmed start and end times. You should plan to attend the full session, as important academic and student support information is covered throughout.

Where Is Orientation Held?

Orientation is held at your enrolled ALG campus — Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, or Brisbane. Once you have registered using the registration link you will be sent a confirmation email with all the details for your orientation session. Orientation is compulsory and helps you prepare for study, meet staff, and access support services.
