We understand that studying during the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns that occur can be challenging on everyone. Please check out the below information for the different types of support available to you at this time.

Financial Support

The Federal and QLD Government have released information on the COVID-19 Disaster Payment for people who lost work and income due to a Queensland COVID-19 public health order. You can use the online eligibility checker to see if you meet the criteria to receive this payment.

If you lost at least 8 but less than 20 hours or a full day of work for that week, you’ll get $450 if you’re eligible. If you lost 20 hours or more for that week, you’ll get $750 if you’re eligible. For more information please visit COVID-19 Payment Information.

Accommodation

If you are concerned about your rental payments, the Tenants Queensland website has links to some different organisations that can provide support during this time. They also explain what to do if you are struggling to pay rent. We also recommend if you are experiencing these difficulties, to contact your real estate agent or landlord to discuss your situation.

Ask Izzy is also a great website to check out for support relating to housing, food, money help, support and counselling and much more.

Household Energy, Gas  and Water Bills

The Home Energy Emergency Assistance Scheme provides Queenslanders with support in paying their electricity or gas bills. They offer a one-off emergency assistance to pay your bills, and you will need to meet the eligibility criteria.

The Energy and Water Ombudsman Queensland also provides different support options available if you have been affected by COVID-19.
